Tony Fletcher
Tony had to leave Choreology at the end of November 2003, but is now a member of their pool of external technical advisors. Prior to joining Choreology, Tony spent much of his career with British Telecom. He helped develop the digital switch for the System X series of telephone exchange systems in the '70s and has worked on data communication standards, specialising in application layer protocols. He led the UK delegation to ITU-T Study Group 7 for a number of years and was Rapporteur for the OSI Application Layer protocols work. After a period on interactive EDI, Tony specialised in the requirements and design of electronic commerce systems with an emphasis on trading and information exchange. Particular interests include the use of XML for business interaction and the use of the Internet and related technologies to provide services. He has helped to specify the information architecture, services, protocols and messages that will underpin the electronic provision of Government services in the UK (known as eGovernment). Tony has maintained an interest in the development of standards for eCommerce particularly through the CEN/ISSS Electronic Commerce workshop, where he led the work on summarising eCommerce architectures, and the UN/CEFACT and OASIS work on ebXML. Tony has a Ph. D. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Kent at Canterbury. |
