Reference or static data propagation

Business problem
The reliable propagation of reference or static data from a key application or master file to other applications pertinent to the Business Transaction. This reliable propagation leads to a significant reduction in breaks in the downstream business processes since straight-through-processing is not disrupted by inconsistent reference data. This in turn reduces the need for reconciliation staff and secondary repair systems.

Technical issues
Often organisations attempt to achieve reference data propagation via a message bus. However this method cannot guarantee that the reference data has been successfully processed by an application. Nor are updates co-ordinated which may well cause subsequent problems for straight-through-processing.

Cohesions solution
Cohesions utilises its GDP properties to allow the propagating application to have oversight of the status of each of the individual sub-transactions distributing data. In addition, sub-transactions can be grouped such that all applications within that sub-transaction group can be updated on a consistent basis so as to minimise the risk of straight-through-processing problems.
