Virtual market places/businesses

Business problem
Virtual market places and Virtual businesses (e.g. travel companies accessing booking systems of multiple flight, hotel, car rental and travel insurance companies to clients) have a need to coordinate a high-level business transaction (e.g. a holiday or business trip). This will typically be made up of multiple individual transactions with multiple companies and require coordinated execution.

Technical issues
There is a requirement to interface with multiple systems over multiple communication linkages. The state of the interaction with the third party systems needs to be aligned and reflected to the client of the business transaction such that a decision can be made on the entire group of sub-transactions or a combination of these sub-transactions (i.e. hold the hotel reservation provisionally until flights can be confirmed).

Cohesions solution
The Participant libraries within the software interact with third party applications and transmit their status to the Cohesions Coordination service. The Coordination service can then be interpreted by the application supporting the portal to allow the ultimate customer a composite view of their transaction.
